A Small Rain"It just doesn't make sense," she thought while her dumbstruck mind struggled to comprehend what her ears had just sent it. Swallowing past the lump that had formed in her throat, she drew in a gasping breath to speak. "Shot? He was shot?" she forced out, her voice gaining volume. "After all he's done--everything he's worked for, someone shot him?" Now she was yelling. Someone was patting her on the shoulder, telling her to calm down.
